Compact tower UPS for home

The APC BK500BLK tower UPS delivers 500 VA and 300 W of battery backup plus surge protection for wireless networks, computers and other small electronics. Its 6.50 in height and 3.58 in width suit desks or shelves where space is tight. A bundled 16 GB USB 3.0 drive adds portable storage.

Check outlets, input plug and software needs

Verify that your devices use NEMA 5-15R plugs and that the total load stays within 300 W. The unit connects to mains through a NEMA 5-15P cord. USB and serial data ports enable auto-shutdown software, so confirm your operating system supports the management features.

Replaces basic surge strips lacking battery runtime

This UPS upgrades from a simple surge protector by providing backup minutes during outages, letting you save work and shut down safely. The jump is worth it when you need continuous power for a router, modem or desktop rather than only spike protection.

Questions about this item

What comes in the box and what must I buy separately?

The bundle includes the BK500BLK tower UPS and a 16 GB USB 3.0 drive; the unit ships with a NEMA 5-15P input cord, so no separate power cable is needed.

Which capacity should I choose for my equipment?

The UPS delivers 500 VA / 300 W from its battery-backed outlets; add the wattage of every device you plan to protect and keep the total under 300 W.

What does the 300 W rating mean once the UPS is powering my PC?

It is the maximum continuous load the battery-backed outlets can supply during an outage; if your PC and monitor draw more than 300 W the UPS will shut down to protect itself.
