Apple iPad 9.7" 6th Gen 128GB Space Gray

This Apple iPad 9.7" 6th Gen 128GB Space Gray is a Wi-Fi-only tablet with an IPS LCD Retina display at 1536 x 2048 resolution. It runs iOS 11.3 out of the box and can be upgraded to iPadOS 15.1. The device offers 128GB of internal storage and 2GB of RAM, powered by an Apple A10 Fusion processor. It supports Apple Pencil input and includes a Touch ID fingerprint sensor.

Who this suits and who should look elsewhere

Students and casual users needing a reliable tablet for web browsing, media consumption and note-taking with Apple Pencil will find this model fits well. Buyers who want a fully laminated screen with anti-reflective coating or a Smart Connector for keyboard attachment should look elsewhere. Those requiring cellular connectivity or more than 128GB of storage will need a different device.

The specification that decides fit

The 9.7-inch non-laminated Retina display with 264 ppi and Apple Pencil support is the key specification. It determines whether the screen quality and stylus experience meet your needs for reading, drawing or annotating documents. The Wi-Fi-only 802.11ac connectivity and Lightning port define how you connect to networks and accessories.

Questions about this item

How much power does the 2.3 GHz A10 Fusion chip draw when the iPad runs all day?

The 2.3 GHz Apple A10 Fusion processor is built for mobile efficiency; the 9.7-inch Retina display and 128 GB flash storage run for hours on the internal battery without a fan or external supply.

What charger and cable must I already own to power the Lightning port?

Any USB power adapter with a Lightning-to-USB cable works; the port handles both charging and computer sync, so no proprietary dock or Smart Connector accessory is required.

Will my first-generation Apple Pencil pair and charge with this 6th-generation model?

Yes — the 9.7-inch display supports Apple Pencil, and the Lightning port provides pairing and charging for the first-generation stylus; there is no Smart Connector for keyboard accessories.
