Product purpose and audience

This 2018 Apple iPad delivers a 9.7 inch Retina display with a 2048 by 1536 resolution at 264 ppi. It runs on an A10 Fusion chipset with a quad-core 2.34 GHz processor and 2GB of memory. The 32GB of built-in storage handles apps and media, while the 8MP rear camera records 1080p video and the 1.2MP front camera supports FaceTime. Bluetooth 4.2 and dual-band Wi-Fi provide wireless connectivity in a thin aluminium unibody weighing under two pounds.

Who it suits and who it does not

Students and casual users who need a lightweight tablet for web browsing, video streaming and Apple Pencil note-taking will find this model capable. Buyers who want more storage for large media libraries or who require cellular data when away from Wi-Fi should look at other configurations. The 2GB memory limit also means heavy multitasking or modern pro apps may run slower than desired.

Deciding specification

The 32GB storage capacity is the single figure that decides fit. If your apps, photos and offline content fit comfortably within that space, the iPad works well; if you need room for a large local library, you will need a model with greater capacity.
