9.7-inch iPad for everyday use

The sixth-generation iPad delivers a 9.7-inch Retina display with a 1536 by 2048 resolution and 264 pixels per inch. It runs on an Apple A10 Fusion processor with four cores at 2.3 GHz and 2 GB of RAM. The 32 GB of storage suits students and casual users who rely on cloud services and streaming.

Setup and common issues

Activation requires a Wi-Fi connection and an Apple ID; the device ships with iOS 11.3 and supports updates up to iPadOS 15.1. The Lightning port handles charging and wired accessories, while Bluetooth 4.2 pairs keyboards and headphones. Buyers who need a Smart Connector for Apple's Smart Keyboard will not find one on this model.

Storage and connectivity limits

The fixed 32 GB capacity cannot be expanded, so large media libraries must stay in the cloud. Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac provides dual-band wireless access but there is no cellular option on this unit. The Lightning connector uses USB 2.0 signalling, so wired transfers are slower than modern USB-C alternatives.
