9.7-inch Wi-Fi tablet with 128GB storage

This Apple iPad 5th Generation model A1822 in Space Gray provides a 9.7-inch Retina display and 128GB of built-in storage for apps, documents and media. It runs iPadOS 15.4 on a 1.8 GHz dual-core A9 processor with 2GB of memory. The 8-megapixel rear iSight camera records 1080p video at 30 fps, while the 1.2-megapixel front camera handles FaceTime calls.

Suited for light daily use.

Buyers who want a simple tablet for web browsing, email, streaming video and casual apps will find the 128GB capacity and Retina display adequate. Users who need smooth split-screen multitasking, modern AR features or all-day battery life under load should look at something else. The older A9 processor and 2GB memory limit performance with current iPadOS versions.

128GB storage capacity

The single specification that decides fit is the 128GB built-in storage. It determines how many apps, photos, videos and offline files can stay on the device without relying on cloud offloading. If 128GB matches the intended library size, the iPad works; if the workflow demands significantly more local space, this model will not suit.

Questions about this item

How do I install the iPadOS 15.4 update on this A1822 model, and what step do people often miss?

Connect to Wi‑Fi, open Settings > General > Software Update, then tap Download and Install; the step many skip is keeping the iPad on charger until the progress bar finishes.

What maintenance or replacement will the built‑in 128GB storage need later?

The 128GB flash storage is soldered and not user‑replaceable; when space runs low you must offload apps, photos or files to iCloud or a computer instead of swapping a drive.

What limit appears first during sustained 1080p video recording with the rear 8MP iSight camera?

The 1080p 30 fps encoding pipeline and 2GB RAM fill the buffer quickly, so thermal throttling or storage bandwidth becomes the bottleneck before the battery drains.
