First-Generation iPad Air with Cellular

The first-generation iPad Air delivers a 9.7-inch display in a lightweight tablet form. It ships with 16 GB of internal storage and includes both Wi-Fi and 4G LTE connectivity. The Space Grey finish distinguishes this model visually. Buyers who need more onboard capacity should consider other options.

16 GB Fixed Storage Capacity

Storage is soldered at 16 GB and cannot be upgraded after purchase. This capacity limits the number of apps, photos and offline media files the device can hold. Users who rely on large local libraries will reach the ceiling quickly. Cloud syncing or streaming services become necessary for larger collections.

Wi-Fi Plus 4G LTE Connectivity

The integrated cellular modem allows data access away from Wi-Fi networks using a compatible nano-SIM. This removes dependence on hotspot tethering or public networks when travelling. No additional dongles or accessories are required for mobile broadband. Buyers without a data plan gain no benefit from the LTE hardware.

Questions about this item

How much space does the 16 GB capacity leave for apps and media on this iPad Air?

The 16 GB provides the total on-board storage; the operating system uses a portion, so the amount available for your apps, photos and files will be somewhat less.

What cellular standard does the 4G LTE support on this model?

It connects to 4G LTE mobile networks for data when Wi-Fi is not available; the exact frequency bands depend on the regional variant of this first-generation iPad Air.

Will the 9.7-inch screen fit in a standard tablet sleeve or stand?

Yes, the 9.7-inch display matches the common iPad Air footprint, so sleeves, cases and stands labelled for the 9.7-inch iPad Air will fit this Space Grey unit.
