Compact 7.9" Retina Tablet

The Apple iPad mini 4 packs a 7.9 inch Retina display with 2048 by 1536 resolution into a slim aluminium chassis finished in Space Gray. It runs on the A8 chip with 64 bit architecture and 2 GB of RAM, delivering smooth operation for web browsing, email, streaming and light apps. The 16 GB internal storage handles essential files and media, while iCloud can extend capacity for backups. Touch ID adds convenient fingerprint security for daily use.

Sustained Everyday Performance

Under continuous use the A8 processor maintains responsive navigation through iOS, keeping web pages, video playback and reading apps fluid without thermal slowdown. The 64 bit architecture handles background tasks such as mail fetch and cloud sync while the foreground app stays snappy. Battery life supports extended sessions of browsing or streaming, so the tablet remains reliable through a full day of travel or study without needing a recharge.

Aluminium Build & Lightning Port

The unibody aluminium construction feels rigid and light, making it easy to hold one handed during long reading sessions or to slip into a small bag. A Lightning connector handles charging and wired accessories, while Bluetooth and Wi-Fi cover wireless headphones, keyboards and AirDrop file transfers. The 16 GB storage ceiling means users who keep large offline media libraries will need to manage space or rely on cloud offload. No cellular modem is present, so internet access requires a Wi-Fi network.

Questions about this item

How much heat or fan noise does the A8 chip produce when the iPad mini 4 runs all day?

The tablet has no fan; the A8 chip is passively cooled, so it stays silent and only becomes warm during sustained use.

Which accessories must I already own to charge and use the Lightning connector on this iPad mini 4?

You need a Lightning cable and a USB power adapter; the box contains only the tablet itself.

Can the 7.9 Retina display at 2048 × 1536 still work with my older 30-pin dock or accessories?

No, this model uses a Lightning port only; 30-pin docks and cables are not compatible without an adapter.
