First-generation iPad Air with 16 GB storage

This first-generation iPad Air is a 9.7-inch tablet running iOS 12 with a Retina display. It offers 16 GB of built-in storage and 1 GB of memory for basic apps and media. The Space Gray unit includes a FaceTime HD camera and connects via Wi-Fi. It delivers up to 10 hours of battery life on a full charge.

Suited for light tasks and legacy app testing

This tablet suits users who need a simple device for web browsing, email or media playback on an older iOS version. Developers testing compatibility with iOS 12.5.5 will find the environment accurate. Buyers who require current operating-system updates or modern app support should consider other options. The 16 GB capacity also limits offline media libraries.

Maximum iOS version locked at 12.5.5

The operating system cannot be upgraded beyond iOS 12.5.5, which determines every app and security feature available on the device. This fixed software ceiling is the single specification that decides whether the tablet fits a specific workflow. If a task demands a newer iOS release, this model will not satisfy it.
