What this phone is and who it fits

The Apple iPhone 7 A1660 is a 4.7-inch unlocked smartphone with 32GB of storage and 2GB of RAM. It runs iOS 15.4 on a 2.3 GHz A10 Fusion processor and features a 12 MP rear camera with optical image stabilisation. The silver handset suits users who want a compact iPhone for everyday tasks without a contract tie-in.

Limits of the Lightning connector and 32GB storage

The device uses a Lightning port for charging and data, so it does not support USB-C accessories or faster USB 3 transfer speeds. Internal storage is fixed at 32GB with no microSD expansion, which can fill quickly with 12 MP photos, 4K video clips or large apps. The 4.7-inch 1334 x 750 display runs at 60 Hz and lacks HDR support.

Upgrading from an iPhone 6 or 6s and when it matters

Moving from an iPhone 6 or 6s brings a faster A10 Fusion chip, water resistance and stereo speakers in the same footprint. The camera gains optical image stabilisation and a wider aperture for better low-light shots. The jump is worth it if you need longer software support, faster app launch speeds or the improved camera, but buyers who want more storage, a larger screen or Face ID should look elsewhere.
