What this phone is and who it fits

The Apple iPhone SE 2020 is a compact smartphone built around a 4.7-inch Retina HD display and the A13 Bionic chip. It ships with 64 GB of non-expandable storage and 3 GB of RAM, running iOS 13 out of the box. The handset is fully unlocked for CDMA and GSM networks, so it works on every major carrier without a contract. Its single rear camera and Touch ID sensor keep the design familiar for users who prefer a home button.

Installing and activating the device

Because the unit arrives fully unlocked, activation only requires inserting a nano-SIM from any supported carrier and following the on-screen setup assistant. No carrier-specific firmware flashing or unlock codes are involved. The most common hiccup is an old SIM that is not provisioned for LTE; swapping to a current nano-SIM from the carrier resolves it. Restoring from an iCloud or iTunes backup completes the process in minutes.

Storage capacity and everyday headroom

The 64 GB model holds the operating system, a typical suite of apps, several thousand photos and a moderate music library with room to spare. Heavy video recording at 4K 60 fps or large offline media libraries will fill the space quickly because storage cannot be expanded. Users who shoot long 4K clips or keep extensive offline Netflix libraries should consider the 128 GB or 256 GB variants instead.
