What this MacBook Pro is

The 2020 MacBook Pro with Touch Bar carries a quad-core Intel Core i5-1038NG7 processor, 16 GB of unified memory and a 512 GB SSD in a 13.3-inch WQXGA chassis. It is built for professionals who need macOS stability in a thin-and-light form factor.

Sustained-load behaviour

The Ice Lake quad-core design shares thermal headroom with integrated Iris Plus graphics, so prolonged compile or render sessions will throttle once the cooling saturates. Expect consistent output for shorter creative tasks but reduced clocks during multi-hour workloads.

Deciding specification

The non-touch 2560 x 1600 display omits Touch Bar input, so buyers who rely on that contextual strip should look elsewhere. Integrated graphics also rule out GPU-accelerated pipelines that demand discrete video memory.

Questions about this item

How loud or hot does the Intel Core i5-1038NG7 get when the MacBook Pro runs all day?

The quad-core Ice Lake processor has a 6 MB L3 cache and shares system memory with Intel Iris Plus graphics, so sustained loads stay within the thermal design of the 13.3" chassis.

Which cables or adapters must I already own to connect external displays to this 2560 x 1600 WQXGA screen?

The integrated Intel Iris Plus graphics drives the internal panel at 2560 x 1600 and supports external monitors through the available ports on this 2020 model.

Can I keep using my older USB-A drives and monitors with this 2020 MacBook Pro?

This 2020 MacBook Pro includes the ports Apple shipped that year, so any peripheral that matches those connections will work without extra drivers.
