Hazardous-Location Conduit Elbow

This capped elbow is an iron conduit fitting built for hazardous-location installations. It connects two 1/2-inch female-threaded conduit runs at a 90-degree angle. The gray chromate, powder-coat and electroplated finish protects the iron body in corrosive environments. It is rated for Class I Groups B, C, D, Class II Groups E, F, G and Class III areas.

90-Degree Threaded Connection Limits

The fitting accepts only IMC or threaded rigid metal conduit with a 1/2-inch trade size. Both ends are fixed 1/2-inch FNPT threads, so the installer cannot change orientation or adapt to other conduit types without additional fittings. The overall length is 2.800 inches, which restricts the space available for wire pulling through the bend. No other conduit sizes or thread standards are compatible.

Class I Group B Rating Decides Suitability

The defining specification is the hazardous-location rating that includes Class I Group B atmospheres. This rating determines whether the elbow meets the code requirements for the specific gases or vapours present at the installation site. If the project does not require Group B compliance, a fitting with a lower classification may be sufficient.

How do the hazardous-location ratings limit where this capped elbow can be used?

It is rated for Class I Groups B, C, D; Class II Groups E, F, G; and Class III environments, so it can be installed in those designated hazardous areas.
