A threaded iron reducing bushing that joins 3-inch and 4-inch IMC or RMC conduit in hazardous locations, rated Class I Division 1 and 2, Class II Division 1 and 2, and Class III
The Appleton Century Crofts RB400-300 is a threaded iron reducing bushing designed for hazardous-location conduit systems. It connects 3-inch female NPT threads to 4-inch male NPT threads on IMC or threaded rigid metal conduit. The fitting carries Class I Division 1 and 2, Class II Division 1 and 2, and Class III ratings for Groups B, C, D, E, F, G and IIA, IIB plus H2.
Chromate, powder-coat and electroplated finishes protect the iron body during continuous exposure to moisture, chemicals and abrasive atmospheres. The 1.74 lb mass provides mechanical stability when conduit runs are subject to vibration or thermal cycling. Hazardous-location certifications remain valid as long as the thread engagement and finish integrity are maintained.
The bushing installs by hand-tightening followed by a standard wrench turn to achieve a flame-tight joint. The 1 7/16 in overall length fits within typical conduit-body spacing without modification. Installers must verify that both conduit ends are cut clean and free of burrs; damaged threads are the most common cause of certification failure.

The fitting is a passive conduit component with no electrical or moving parts, so it produces no heat of its own.
You need 3 in and 4 in IMC or threaded RMC conduit with matching NPT threads to join the bushing.
The multi-layer coating resists corrosion in hazardous-location environments, maintaining integrity alongside legacy galvanised raceways.
