Condensate trap for HVAC systems, compatible with 70 Comfort-Aire furnace and air-handler models
This new Appliance Factory Parts condensate trap carries part number 68-24048-01 and fits 70 listed Comfort-Aire models including the GLUB, GLUA, GLDH, GLDB, TGTS and TGRS series. It is sold as a single unit for HVAC service professionals and homeowners maintaining compatible equipment.
The trap contains no fan or pump so it adds zero noise and draws no power during normal furnace or air-conditioner cycles. Condensate simply drains by gravity through the fitted connection, eliminating the risk of mechanical failure that motorised devices introduce.
Swapping the original trap restores proper drainage when the old unit leaks, overflows or blocks with sludge. The jump is worth it whenever the drain line backs up or water pools near the air handler, signalling the existing trap can no longer seal the condensate path.

The trap connects to the furnace drain port using the supplied fittings; the step most often missed is priming the trap with water before firing the unit, otherwise the seal cannot form and condensate will leak.
Inspect the trap body and float mechanism annually; clean any sludge buildup and replace the float if it no longer rises freely, typically every 2 to 3 heating seasons depending on water quality.
The trap’s internal volume fills first; once condensate exceeds the holding capacity the float rises to block the drain, causing the furnace pressure switch to trip and shut down the burner.
