Replacement motor capacitor compatible with 23 Comfort-Aire, three Hybrid Advantage, one Global Industrial and select Midea air-conditioning models
This AC and refrigeration component replaces part CMF17400101000028 and fits 23 Comfort-Aire models including B-SMA18SC and EKTH12G135A. It also suits one Global Industrial unit and three Hybrid Advantage packaged terminal heat pumps. The part is sold individually as a direct replacement.
As a passive capacitor the unit generates no audible noise and draws no power of its own during normal operation. It simply stores and releases electrical energy to start and run the attached motor. No cooling or ventilation is required for the component itself.
The capacitor provides the phase shift needed for single-phase compressor motors in the listed air-conditioners and heat pumps. Without it the motor will not start or will run inefficiently and overheat. Buyers whose equipment uses a different capacitance value or mounting style cannot use this part.

Discharge the old capacitor fully, note the wire positions on the common, herm and fan terminals, then connect the new capacitor exactly the same way; the step most often missed is verifying the microfarad and voltage ratings match the unit label before powering up.
Capacitors do not have a scheduled service interval; plan to replace it if the compressor or fan motor struggles to start, runs hot, or a multimeter shows capacitance outside the rated tolerance.
The capacitor's rated voltage and temperature class set the limit; sustained high ambient temperatures or voltage spikes above the rating will degrade the dielectric first, causing capacitance loss and eventual motor start failure.
