Areca SlimSAS to Mini-SAS HD Cable
This one-metre cable connects a SlimSAS 8i SFF-8654 port to two Mini-SAS HD 4i SFF-8643 connectors. It suits storage builders linking modern backplanes or controllers that use the SlimSAS interface to legacy SAS expanders or enclosures.
Dual 4i breakout doubles connection options
The SFF-8654 end carries eight lanes which split into two independent four-lane SFF-8643 plugs. This lets a single controller port serve two separate SAS devices or enclosures without an extra expander card.
32-gauge wire limits reach and lane count
The thin 32 AWG conductors support the stated one-metre length for SAS signalling but will not sustain longer runs or higher lane aggregates. Builders needing extended distances or wider links must select a heavier-gauge assembly.
How it compares

Questions about this item
Will the 32 AWG conductors need periodic replacement under normal use?
The 32 AWG wiring is built to industrial specification and does not have a scheduled replacement interval.
What throughput limit appears first during continuous operation?
The cable carries SAS signals through an SFF-8654 8i connector to two SFF-8643 4i connectors without an active repeater, so the passive copper length sets the practical distance ceiling.
Does the cable generate noticeable heat or noise when run all day?
As a passive copper assembly it produces no audible noise and negligible heat during sustained operation.
