Socket & CPU support

This board uses the LGA 1151 300 Series socket and accepts 8th and 9th Generation Intel Core processors. It is not backward compatible with older LGA 1151 CPUs. The Intel B365 chipset provides native support for Turbo Boost Technology 2.0. Dual channel DDR4 memory runs at 2666, 2400 or 2133 across four slots with a 64GB limit.

Expansion & storage layout

Two PCI Express 3.0 x16 slots operate at x16 or x16/x4 depending on population; using the secondary x1 or M.2 slots can reduce the third slot to x2. Two Ultra M.2 sockets take 2230 to 2280 drives, one supporting PCIe Gen3 x4 and the other SATA. Six SATA3 ports offer RAID 0, 1, 5 and 10. Realtek ALC1200 delivers 7.1 channel audio.

Boot NVMe on B365

The primary M.2 socket supports NVMe SSDs as boot devices at PCIe 3.0 x4 speeds. This single capability decides whether a fast modern boot drive can be used without adding a PCIe adapter card.
