AMD EPYC 7000 series barebone

The ASRock Rack 2U4G-ROME/2T is a 2U rackmount server barebone designed for AI, machine learning and high-performance computing workloads. It accepts AMD EPYC 7001 and 7002 series processors in a Socket SP3 package. The platform targets organisations that need dense GPU compute in a standard rack footprint.

Eight-channel DDR4 and four double-width GPUs

Eight 288-pin DIMM slots support RDIMM and LRDIMM modules at 3200 and 2933 MHz across eight memory channels. Four PCIe 4.0 x16 slots accommodate double-width GPGPU or MIC cards rated up to 350 W each, while a fifth PCIe 4.0 x16 slot sits at the rear for additional expansion. The integrated Aspeed AST2500 provides 256 MB DDR4 video memory for management display.

Redundant power, 10 GbE and flexible storage

A 2000 W 1+1 redundant platinum power supply operates on 200-240 V high-line input. Dual 10 Gigabit base-T ports from an Intel X550 controller plus a dedicated IPMI LAN port handle networking. Storage consists of four 2.5-inch SATA bays, one of which can alternatively take an NVME or SATA device, plus a separate NVME bay. Rear I/O includes two USB 3.0 ports, VGA and a COM port.

Questions about this item

Will my existing AMD EPYC 7001 or 7002 series processors fit the SP3 socket?

The board uses Socket SP3 and supports AMD EPYC 7001 and 7002 series processors, so those CPUs will install directly.

How can I verify the Aspeed AST2500 management GPU is functioning after assembly?

Connect a monitor to the VGA port and plug the dedicated IPMI LAN into your network; the AST2500 will present its web interface and video output.

Which drives and memory do I need to buy separately for the 2.5-inch bays and eight DIMM slots?

Add up to four 2.5-inch SATA drives — one bay also accepts NVME — plus a single NVME device, and populate the eight 288-pin slots with DDR4 RDIMM or LRDIMM at 3200 or 2933 MHz.
