27-inch QHD Fast IPS gaming monitor

The ASUS TUF Gaming VG27AQM5A is a 27-inch QHD monitor built for competitive players who need high refresh rates and low response times. Its Fast IPS panel delivers a 2560 x 1440 resolution with a 16:9 aspect ratio. The display covers 95% of the DCI-P3 colour space and supports HDR10 for richer contrast. It targets gamers who value motion clarity and colour accuracy in fast-paced titles.

Upgrade from standard 144Hz panels

Moving to this 300Hz refresh rate makes sense when your graphics card can consistently push frame rates well above 144 frames per second at 1440p. The 0.3ms grey-to-grey response time reduces ghosting that remains visible on slower IPS screens. AMD FreeSync Premium and NVIDIA G-SYNC Compatible adaptive sync keep motion tear-free across variable frame rates. The jump is worth it for players who notice motion blur or input lag on conventional high-refresh monitors.

Sustained competitive gaming behaviour

During extended sessions the Fast IPS panel maintains its 0.3ms response spec without overshoot artefacts that appear on some panels when driven continuously at 300Hz. ELMB Sync operates alongside adaptive sync to suppress persistence blur over long periods rather than only in short bursts. The 1,300:1 contrast ratio and 178-degree viewing angles stay stable as the monitor warms. Shadow Boost continues to lift dark-scene detail without blowing out highlights after hours of use.

Questions about this item

What desk clearance does the 27-inch panel and included stand require?

The flat 27-inch Fast IPS panel sits on a swivel and tilt stand; allow enough depth for the base and room to swivel up to 178 degrees horizontally without hitting walls or shelves.

Which cable should I connect first to enable the 300Hz refresh rate at 2560 x 1440?

Use the supplied DisplayPort cable and select 300Hz in your GPU control panel; the monitor also supports AMD FreeSync Premium and G-Sync Compatible variable refresh.

How do I clean the anti-glare coating without damaging the 0.233 mm pixel pitch?

Power off, then wipe gently with a dry microfibre cloth; for stubborn marks use a monitor-safe solution on the cloth, never spray directly on the screen.
