ATX motherboard with Intel B85 chipset, LGA 1150 socket and dual-channel DDR3 up to 32 GB
This ATX motherboard uses the Intel B85 chipset and an LGA 1150 socket for 4th generation Intel Core i7, i5, i3, Pentium and Celeron processors. It supports dual-channel DDR3 memory at 1600, 1333 and 1066 MHz up to a maximum of 32 GB. The board includes SupremeFX 8-channel audio and an Intel Gigabit LAN controller with GameFirst II technology.
Builders upgrading or repairing an LGA 1150 system will find the required socket, chipset and DDR3 support here. The single PCI Express 3.0 x16 slot handles one modern graphics card, while four SATA III and two SATA II ports connect multiple drives. Buyers who need more than one full-speed x16 slot, M.2 connectivity or a newer memory standard should choose a different platform.
Four DIMM slots accept up to 32 GB of DDR3, giving ample headroom for multitasking and older titles. The single PCIe 3.0 x16 slot provides full bandwidth for one graphics card; a second card would run at x4 electrical speed from the PCIe 2.0 slot. Six SATA ports support several SSDs or hard drives, but the board lacks native M.2 or U.2 interfaces for faster storage.

The socket accepts 4th-generation Core i7, i5, i3, Pentium and Celeron CPUs built on 22 nm technology with Turbo Boost 2.0 support.
The primary slot operates at full x16 speed while the secondary slot is limited to x4; both can be populated simultaneously without reducing the primary link.
Boot into the OS, open the audio control panel and verify that eight output channels are detected and selectable for playback.
