Compact Chrome OS mini PC

The ASUS CHROMEBOX3-N7042U is a Star Grey mini desktop built around an Intel Core i7-8550U processor running at 1.80 GHz with Intel HD Graphics 620. It ships with 4GB of memory, a 32GB SSD and Google Chrome OS installed. The compact form factor targets students and home-office users who rely on cloud apps and web workflows.

Check ports and display needs

The unit provides two USB 3.1 Gen 1 ports, a 3-in-1 card reader and an audio jack on the front. Rear connectivity includes one HDMI output, a Gigabit LAN port and the DC-in jack. Wireless uses 802.11ac and Bluetooth 4.2. No monitor is included, so verify your display has an HDMI input and plan for any USB peripherals you require.

Suits cloud-first users, not local-heavy workloads

Buyers who live in the browser, stream media or run Android apps will find the spec adequate. The 32GB drive and 4GB RAM limit local file storage and multitasking headroom. Users needing large offline libraries, native Windows or Linux applications, discrete graphics or internal storage expansion should consider a different class of machine.
