ASUS DRW-24B3ST/BLK/G/AS DVD Burner Black SATA

ASUS DRW-24B3ST DVD Burner

The ASUS DRW-24B3ST is an internal optical drive designed for desktop PCs that still need to read or write CDs and DVDs. It connects via a SATA interface and fits a standard 5.25-inch bay with a black tray-loading front panel. The unit supports Windows 10, 8, 7, Vista and XP on both 32-bit and 64-bit architectures. Bundled software includes Power2Go 8, E-Green and E-Hammer utilities.

Upgrading from slower or ageing drives

Replacing an older burner with this model brings write speeds of up to 24X for DVD±R and 12X for dual-layer discs. CD-R writing reaches 48X while CD-RW tops out at 32X. The 150 ms access time for both DVD and CD media improves responsiveness when opening files or starting installations. The jump is worth it when archiving projects, creating bootable media or ripping legacy discs faster than a previous drive allowed.

Build integration and system impact

A single SATA data cable and a SATA power connector are the only internal connections required. The drive draws modest power, leaving headroom on the PSU for other components. E-Green software reports power saved and CO2 reduced during operation, while E-Hammer provides secure, irreversible erasure of write-once discs without physical destruction. No extra drivers are needed for the supported Windows versions.
