ASUS PRIME Z490-P LGA 1200 ATX motherboard

The ASUS PRIME Z490-P is an Intel Z490 chipset motherboard built for the LGA 1200 socket. It supports DDR4 memory up to a maximum of 128 GB. The board uses the standard ATX form factor for compatible chassis.

Suited for LGA 1200 system builds.

This motherboard suits builders assembling a system around an LGA 1200 processor with the Z490 chipset. It is not for buyers who need a different CPU socket type or a chipset other than Z490. It is also not for compact builds that require a smaller form factor than ATX.

128 GB DDR4 maximum memory capacity

The single specification that decides fit is the 128 GB maximum DDR4 memory capacity. If the planned build requires more than 128 GB of system memory, this board will not meet that requirement.

Questions about this item

What memory standard does the Z490 chipset use, and what is the maximum capacity?

The board uses DDR4 memory and supports up to 128GB total capacity across its slots.

What case form factor and CPU socket does this ATX board require?

It needs an ATX-compatible case and an LGA 1200 socket processor to fit and mount correctly.

How is the I/O shield installed, and what step is often missed?

The chassis I/O back panel must be pressed into the case cutout from the inside before the motherboard is lowered in; skipping this leaves ports blocked.
