Upgrade path

This combo replaces an older AM4 or early AM5 system when the workload demands 16 cores, 32 threads and memory speeds beyond 8000 MT/s. Interface limits

The AM5 socket supports Ryzen 9000, 8000 and 7000 series processors, but PCIe 5.0 x16 graphics lanes are only active with 9000 and 7000 series CPUs; 8000 series chips drop to PCIe 4.0 x16 and disable the second x16 slot. DDR5 memory tops out at 8200+ MT/s with 9000 series, 9600+ MT/s with 8000 series and 8000+ MT/s with 7000 series, all requiring overclocking. Wi-Fi 7 operates on 2.4, 5 and 6 GHz bands with 320 MHz channel width for up to 6.5 Gbps throughput, while the second LAN controller provides 5 Gbps wired Ethernet.
