Paired AMD AM5 motherboard and Ryzen 9 9950X3D processor with 18+2+2 power stages, DDR5 support up to 9600 MT/s, three PCIe 5.0 M.2 slots, Wi-Fi 7 and 5Gb Ethernet
Model ROG CROSSHAIR X870E APEX
CPU +Ryzen 9 950X3D
The bundle pairs an ROG Crosshair X870E Apex motherboard with a Ryzen 9 9950X3D processor on the AM5 socket. It targets builders who need 16 cores, 128 MB of L3 cache and integrated Radeon graphics for advanced AI computing. The board supplies 18 plus 2 plus 2 power stages rated at 110 A and 80 A with ProCool II connectors. Two DDR5 slots support up to 128 GB and speeds of 8200 MT/s with 9000 series or 9600 MT/s with 8000 series CPUs.
The processor runs at a 170 W TDP and is cooled by massive heatsinks that integrate the I/O cover, high-conductivity thermal pads and a connecting heatpipe. AI Cooling II adjusts fan curves automatically to balance thermals and noise under load. The 5 Gb Realtek Ethernet and Wi-Fi 7 with 320 MHz channels provide high-throughput, low-latency networking for sustained workloads.
A bundled ROG DIMM.2 card adds two PCIe 4.0 M.2 slots with substantial cooling, supplementing three onboard PCIe 5.0 M.2 slots. The ROG Memory Fan kit directs airflow over the two DIMM slots to enable memory overclocking up to 9600 MT/s. AI Overclocking, Dynamic OC Switcher, Core Flex and PBO Enhancement automate CPU tuning, while AI Networking II and AI Advisor simplify system configuration.

Seat the card in the dedicated DIMM.2 slot, secure the retaining screw, then attach the two PCIe 4.0 M.2 drives with their own screws — the screw on the card itself is the step most builders forget.
Clean the fan blades and heatsink fins with compressed air every few months; the fan is a standard 4-pin PWM unit that can be replaced if it becomes noisy or fails.
The CPU will hit its 170W package power limit before the 18+2+2 110A power stages saturate, so the 170W TDP is the first ceiling you reach.
