Intel Z590 motherboard for LGA 1200 CPUs with four DDR4 slots up to 128 GB, dual PCIe 4.0 x16 and six SATA ports
The ASUS ROG MAXIMUS XIII EXTREME is an Extended ATX motherboard built around the Intel Z590 chipset for LGA 1200 processors. It supports 11th Gen Intel Core, 10th Gen Intel Core, Pentium Gold and Celeron CPUs. Four 288-pin DDR4 slots accept up to 128 GB in dual-channel mode.
With an 11th Gen CPU the board exposes PCI Express 4.0 on two x16 slots and on the first M.2 socket, while 10th Gen parts run those links at PCIe 3.0. Memory can be pushed to DDR4 5333 (OC) and a long list of lower OC steps down to 2133. The jump is worthwhile when moving to 11th Gen for full 4.0 bandwidth or when chasing high-frequency DDR4 kits.
SupremeFX ALC4082 7.1 audio, Marvell AQC113CS LAN and extensive M.2 support suit users who want every onboard feature in one board. Builders on tighter budgets or who only need basic connectivity should look at simpler Z590 models.

The board uses the Extended ATX layout, so the case must explicitly support E-ATX dimensions and provide matching standoff positions for the larger PCB.
With an 11th Gen CPU the primary slot runs at x16 and the second at x8; with a 10th Gen CPU both slots operate at PCIe 3.0 speeds instead.
Four 288-pin DDR4 slots support up to 128 GB total and speeds up to DDR4 5333 (OC) in dual-channel mode.
