18-inch WUXGA 144Hz gaming laptop

The ASUS ROG Strix G18 G814FM is an 18-inch gaming laptop built around a 16-core Ryzen 9 9955HX processor and an NVIDIA RTX 5060 graphics card with 8 GB GDDR7 memory. It ships with Windows 11 Home, 16 GB of DDR5 RAM, and a 4 TB PCIe 4.0 x4 NVMe SSD. The IPS-level display runs at 1920 x 1200 resolution and a 144 Hz refresh rate.

Ready to use with factory thermal upgrades

This unit arrives as a completed build from an authorised ASUS BTO dealer, so no end-user assembly is required. The vendor applies Thermal Grizzly Conductonaut on the CPU and Gelid GC Extreme on the GPU before a full burn-in and quality-control pass. Because the chassis is sealed after testing, opening it yourself would void the builder’s warranty coverage.

4 TB PCIe 4.0 x4 NVMe storage

The single specification that decides fit is the 4 TB M.2 PCIe 4.0 x4 NVMe SSD, delivered as a matched 2 x 2 TB pair. That capacity and interface determine whether the laptop can hold your game library and workloads without an immediate drive swap.

Questions about this item

Does the 18 inch 144Hz WUXGA panel need a special external monitor for higher refresh rates?

The built-in screen runs at 1920 x 1200 resolution with a 144 Hz refresh rate. External displays connect over the laptop's video outputs and will run at their own native rates.

Will the 16 GB of DDR5 5600 memory be enough for current AAA titles and heavy multitasking?

The system ships with 16 GB in a 2 x 8 GB dual-channel kit. That capacity handles modern games and typical creative workloads, though some users may add more later.

What does the dual 2 TB NVMe PCIe 4.0 x4 SSD layout mean for storage expansion?

Both M.2 slots are populated with 2 TB drives for a total of 4 TB. Adding more internal storage would require replacing one of the existing modules.
