18-inch WUXGA 144Hz gaming laptop

The ASUS ROG Strix G18 G814FM is an 18-inch Windows 11 Pro gaming laptop built around an AMD Ryzen 9 9955HX 16-core processor and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5060 graphics with 8 GB GDDR7 video memory. It ships with 64 GB of DDR5 5600 MHz dual-channel memory and 8 TB of PCIe 4.0 x4 NVMe storage configured as two 4 TB drives. The IPS-level display runs at 1920 x 1200 resolution and 144 Hz refresh rate.

Who this suits and who should look elsewhere

This machine suits users who need a large high-refresh screen, 16-core mobile CPU performance and abundant fast storage in a single chassis. The 6.61 lb weight and dimensions of 15.71 by 11.57 by 0.91 to 1.21 inches make it a desktop replacement rather than a daily commuter. Buyers wanting a lighter ultraportable or a smaller form factor should consider other models.

The specification that decides fit

The single specification that decides whether this is the right part is the 18-inch 144 Hz WUXGA display combined with the Ryzen 9 9955HX and RTX 5060 pairing, because it locks in the screen size, refresh rate and GPU tier for the product's intended gaming and multitasking role.

Questions about this item

What thermal limit does the Ryzen 9 9955HX hit first during long sessions?

The CPU is cooled with Thermal Grizzly Conductonaut liquid metal and the GPU with Gelid GC Extreme paste, a combination chosen to keep both processors below their throttling points under sustained load.

How loud and hot does the chassis get when the RTX 5060 runs all day?

The 18-inch chassis uses a vapor-chamber design and upgraded thermal interfaces to move heat away from the 8 GB GDDR7 GPU, keeping surface temperatures and fan noise lower than a standard paste application would allow.

Which memory kit must already be installed for the DDR5 5600 MHz speed to be active?

The laptop ships with 64 GB configured as 2 × 32 GB DDR5 5600 MHz modules in dual-channel mode, so no additional RAM purchase is required to reach the rated frequency.
