ASUS ROG Strix G614PR gaming laptop

The ASUS ROG Strix G614PR is a 16.0-inch Windows 11 Home gaming laptop built around a Ryzen 9 8940HX processor and a GeForce RTX 5070 Ti GPU with 12GB GDDR7 memory. It ships with 16GB DDR5 SO-DIMM RAM and a 1TB PCIe NVMe SSD. The IPS WUXGA panel runs at 1920x1200 resolution and a 165 Hz refresh rate.

Who this suits and who should look elsewhere

This machine suits buyers who need a high-core-count mobile CPU paired with a current-generation discrete GPU in a 16.0-inch chassis. The 16-core, 32-thread processor and 165 Hz display support competitive gaming and multi-threaded workloads. Users who require more than 16GB of system memory, a higher-resolution screen, or a larger storage volume should consider other configurations.

The specification that decides fit

The GeForce RTX 5070 Ti with 12GB GDDR7 VRAM is the single component that determines whether this laptop meets a buyer's graphics performance target. It defines the ceiling for frame rates at the native 1920x1200 resolution and governs VR readiness. If the workload demands more VRAM or a different GPU tier, this model will not satisfy the requirement.

Questions about this item

How do I install extra DDR5 SO-DIMM memory in the ASUS ROG Strix G614PR and what step do people often miss?

Remove the bottom panel screws, locate the empty SO-DIMM slot, insert the DDR5 module at the correct angle until it clicks, then replace the panel; the step often missed is seating the module fully so the retention clips engage on both sides.

What maintenance or replacement will the 4-Cell 90 WHr battery need later?

The 90 WHr battery is internal and not user-replaceable; plan for professional service once runtime drops below your needs, typically after several hundred charge cycles.

What limit appears first during sustained gaming on the 280W power adapter?

The 280W adapter caps total system draw, so under prolonged heavy load the CPU and GPU will throttle together to stay within that power envelope.
