18-inch 240Hz ROG Strix laptop

The ASUS ROG Strix G815LP-IS96 is an 18-inch gaming laptop built around a 240Hz IPS WQXGA panel. It pairs a 15th Gen Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX processor with an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 8GB GDDR7 GPU. The system includes 32GB DDR5 SO-DIMM memory and a 1TB PCIe NVMe SSD. Windows 11 Home is pre-installed.

Suited for high-refresh competitive play.

The 240Hz refresh rate targets competitive gamers who value motion clarity on a large 18.0" screen. Creators benefit from the 2560x1600 resolution and Thunderbolt 4 connectivity for external workflows. The 7lb weight and 1.4-inch profile make it a desktop replacement rather than a daily carry device. Buyers needing longer unplugged runtime should consider alternatives.

1TB PCIe NVMe SSD defines storage speed and capacity

The single 1TB PCIe NVMe SSD determines how many modern titles and project files fit on the internal drive. It also sets the load-speed ceiling for the operating system and applications. No secondary drive bay is mentioned, so expansion relies on external Thunderbolt 4 or USB 3.2 Type-C storage. Verify that 1TB meets your library size before purchasing.

Questions about this item

Will the laptop and the Duex Max DS monitor both fit in a standard 17-inch backpack?

The laptop measures 17.25 in long, 11.75 in wide and 1.4 in thick. The included monitor has a 14-inch screen, so a bag rated for 17-inch laptops will be tight for the main unit and may not accommodate the second screen.

Can I run the external monitor from the laptop's Thunderbolt 4 port without an extra power brick?

Yes. Thunderbolt 4 carries video and up to 100 W of power, enough to drive the 14-inch FHD Duex Max DS from a single cable.

Is the 32 GB of memory user-upgradable or soldered?

The specification lists SO-DIMM modules, which are socketed and can be replaced with higher-capacity DDR5 sticks if needed.
