Built for competitive gaming

The ROG Strix Scar 18 is an 18-inch laptop aimed at players who want high frame rates on a large screen. It pairs an Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX processor with 24 cores and a 5.4 GHz turbo frequency with an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Ti laptop GPU carrying 12GB of GDDR7 memory. Sixty-four gigabytes of DDR5 and a 1TB PCIe SSD complete the platform. Windows 11 Home and an Office 2021 licence ship pre-installed.

240 Hz QHD+ panel

The single specification that decides fit is the 18-inch 2560 x 1600 display running at 240 Hz. This resolution and refresh combination targets competitive titles where motion clarity matters more than 4K detail. If your workflow or favourite games need a different aspect ratio, a touch layer, or a lower refresh rate to save battery, this panel will not match those requirements.

Opened for upgrade and test

The factory seal is broken by engineers to install the listed memory and storage, then the system is stress-tested before shipment. This means the laptop arrives with the upgraded components already verified, but it also means the original packaging shows signs of opening. Buyers should inspect the chassis for cosmetic marks on arrival and confirm that the upgraded RAM and SSD are recognised in BIOS before relying on the machine for critical work.

Questions about this item

How does the 240 Hz panel behave in fast-paced games on this 18-inch chassis?

The 2560 x 1600 screen refreshes at 240 Hz, so motion stays sharp in competitive titles without needing an external monitor.

What does the Thunderbolt 5 connection actually limit when I plug in an eGPU or fast storage?

Two Thunderbolt 5 ports handle video, data and charging simultaneously, so the practical ceiling is the port protocol itself rather than a separate bottleneck.

Will the 15.71 x 11.73 x 0.93 inch frame fit in a standard 18-inch laptop sleeve?

At 15.71 by 11.73 by 0.93 inches and 6.28 pounds, it matches typical 18-inch sleeve dimensions but check the maker’s internal clearance before buying.
