AX5700 Dual-Band Router

The ASUS RT-AX86U is a WiFi 6 gaming router built for households that run many devices at once. It targets gamers and streamers who want low-latency wireless and wired connections across a large area.

5700 Mbps WiFi 6 Throughput

The headline spec is the combined dual-band wireless rate of 5700 Mbps delivered over 160 MHz channels using the 802.11ax standard. That ceiling decides whether the router can saturate a multi-gigabit internet plan or feed several 4K streams simultaneously.

2.5G LAN Port and AiMesh Expansion

A dedicated 2.5 Gbps LAN port unlocks true multi-gig wired speeds for a gaming PC or NAS, while four gigabit ports handle other wired gear. AiMesh support lets you add compatible ASUS routers later to eliminate dead zones without replacing the whole system. Buyers who need more than one 2.5G port or require 10 Gbps connectivity should look elsewhere.

Questions about this item

What does the 5700 Mbps AX5700 rating mean for real-world WiFi 6 speeds in my home?

The 5700 Mbps is the combined theoretical maximum across both WiFi 6 bands using 160 MHz channels; actual throughput will be lower and depends on client device capabilities, interference and distance from the router.

How fast can the 2.5 Gbps LAN port and 1 Gbps WAN port move data in practice?

The 2.5 Gbps LAN port supports up to 2.5 Gbps wired throughput to a compatible device, while the single 1 Gbps WAN port caps internet-side traffic at 1 Gbps unless link aggregation is used.

What physical space and mounting options does the RT-AX86U need?

The router is designed for desktop placement with four detachable antennas; no rack-mount brackets or wall-mount keyholes are included in the supplied package.
