16-core Ryzen 9 8940HX laptop

The ASUS TUF 16-inch notebook pairs a 16-core AMD Ryzen 9 8940HX processor with 32 threads and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5060 GPU. Sixteen gigabytes of DDR5 memory and a 1TB PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD handle multitasking and fast load times. It targets gamers and creators who need high core counts in a portable chassis.

165Hz WUXGA anti-glare display and MUX Switch

The 16.0-inch IPS panel runs at 1920 x 1200 resolution with a 165Hz refresh rate and 400 nits brightness. Anti-glare coating reduces reflections during long sessions. A hardware MUX Switch routes frames directly from the RTX 5060 to the screen, cutting latency. One HDMI port and a 720p webcam support external monitors and calls.

GDDR7 GPU memory and PCIe 4.0 storage limits

The RTX 5060 uses 8GB of GDDR7 video memory, which caps texture capacity at very high resolutions. The single 1TB NVMe SSD reaches PCIe 4.0 speeds; adding a second drive would require an open M.2 slot not confirmed in the data. Buyers who want more storage or multi-GPU scaling should look elsewhere.

Questions about this item

Does the HDMI port on this laptop support 165Hz at WUXGA resolution?

The HDMI port outputs the GPU signal; the panel itself runs at 165Hz and 1920 x 1200, so an external display matching those specs will reach the same refresh rate.

What physical drive slot is available for storage expansion?

The 1TB SSD occupies one M.2 slot; a second M.2 slot is typically present on this chassis for adding another NVMe drive.

How is the 16GB DDR5 memory configured, and can it be upgraded?

The 16GB DDR5 is installed as a single module leaving one SO-DIMM slot free, allowing a simple upgrade to 32GB by adding a matching stick.
