ASUS TUF GAMING Z790-PLUS D4 Motherboard

This ASUS motherboard uses the Intel Z790 chipset and fits an LGA 1700 socket. It supports DDR4 memory up to 128GB in an ATX layout. The board is sold new and ships with a SATA cable and an I/O back panel.

Who This Suits and Who Should Look Elsewhere

Builders who want a Z790 platform while keeping existing DDR4 modules will find this board suitable. It is not for buyers who need memory types other than DDR4. It is also not for builders who require the original retail packaging or a full accessory bundle.

Deciding Specification — DDR4 Memory Support

The defining detail is native DDR4 support on the Z790 chipset. This lets you reuse current DDR4 kits up to the 128GB limit without moving to a different memory standard. Confirm your CPU is an LGA 1700 model before ordering.

Questions about this item

Should I choose 128 GB DDR4 or a smaller kit for the ASUS TUF GAMING Z790-PLUS D4?

The board accepts up to 128 GB of DDR4, so select a kit size that fits your actual workload and budget.

What does the 128 GB maximum memory mean once the board is installed in a real machine?

It sets the ceiling for total system RAM; you can populate the slots with any combination of DDR4 modules up to that limit.

How does the SATA interface on this motherboard cap storage performance in practice?

SATA tops out at 6 Gbps, so connected drives will be limited to that throughput regardless of their own rated speed.
