LGA 2066 workstation board with quad-GPU support, DDR4 up to 4200 MHz, dual M.2 and U.2 storage, and dual Intel 1 Gbps LAN
The ASUS WS X299 SAGE is an Intel X299 CEB motherboard built for LGA 2066 Core X-series processors. It targets content-creation and compute workloads that benefit from up to four dual-slot graphics cards in 4-way SLI or CrossFireX configurations. Dual Intel gigabit LAN and ASUS Control Center software support managed deployments in small- and medium-business environments.
Memory capacity depends on the installed CPU: six-core and above models enable all eight DDR4 DIMM slots for up to 128 GB, while four-core models activate only four slots with a 64 GB ceiling. Confirm your chassis can accommodate the CEB form factor and that the chosen cooler clears the metal-fin-array VRM heatsink. The package contains only the motherboard and I/O shield.
This board upgrades from typical ATX X299 designs when a build requires seven PCIe 3.0 x16 slots wired for quad-GPU operation, dual M.2 sockets plus two U.2 connectors, and 10 Gbps USB 3.1 Gen 2 Type-A and Type-C ports with a front-panel header. The jump is worth it when rendering, simulation or virtualization workloads demand that slot density and storage bandwidth in a single managed platform.
