Compact USB audio upgrade

The ASUS Xonar U5 is a 5.1-channel USB sound card that delivers true 192kHz/24-bit surround sound from a compact USB-powered device. It targets PC gamers who want high quality audio for games, music and movies without installing an internal card. The 104dB signal-to-analog ratio ensures pure sound while the integrated headphone amplifier pumps up every detail. Sonic Studio provides complete control over sound technologies for a tailored listening experience.

Replaces limited onboard audio

This unit replaces basic motherboard audio that lacks multi-channel support or sufficient headphone drive. The jump is worth it when games, movies or voice chat need clearer positional cues and lower input noise than integrated solutions provide. Perfect Voice technology delivers incredible input-noise reduction for cleaner communication. Independent mic and master-volume controls allow instant in-game adjustments without leaving the action. No standalone power supply is required, so the upgrade is immediate.

Fits any USB port and frees PCIe slots

The device connects via USB and draws power from the same port, so it needs no internal slot or external adapter. At 5.4 x 3.14 x 1 inches it sits on a desk or travels in a bag, freeing PCIe slots for other expansion cards. Analogue 5.1-channel output connects to powered speakers or a home-theatre system while the headphone amplifier drives high-impedance cans directly. Builders who need internal digital outputs or more than 5.1 analogue channels should look elsewhere.
