Supports fourth-generation Intel Core processors with up to 32 GB of DDR3 memory and six SATA 6Gb/s ports
This ASUS Z87-K board fits the Intel LGA 1150 socket and supports 4th-Generation Core i7, Core i5, Core i3, Pentium and Celeron processors. The Intel Z87 chipset provides native SATA 6Gb/s and USB 3.0 connectivity on a standard ATX layout.
The four DDR3 slots accept dual-channel kits up to 32 GB with overclocked speeds reaching 2933 MT/s. Builders needing newer CPU sockets, different memory types or integrated wireless should look at alternative platforms.
A single full-length PCI Express 3.0 x16 slot handles the primary graphics card while a second x16 slot runs at x4 and two x1 slots plus three legacy PCI slots provide extra expansion.

The board supports up to 32GB of DDR3 across four slots; sustained CPU throttling depends on the processor and cooler you install, not the motherboard itself.
Fan Xpert 2 lets you tune chassis and CPU fan curves for a quiet, cool balance; actual VRM temperature and noise vary with your CPU, case airflow and chosen fan profile.
Any 4th-generation Core i7, i5, i3, Pentium or Celeron in the LGA 1150 package will work; the board also requires DDR3 memory, a PSU with 24-pin and 8-pin CPU power, and a graphics source if the CPU lacks integrated graphics.
