Single-node WiFi 7 mesh unit

The ASUS ZenWiFi BD4 (W-1-PK) is a single-node mesh WiFi system built on WiFi 7 (802.11be) technology. It delivers dual-band wireless speeds up to 3600 Mbps with MLO and 4K-QAM. Four internal antennas and four high-power front-end modules work with a quad-core 1.5 GHz CPU to eliminate dead zones. Dual 2.5G Ethernet ports provide wired backhaul or client connections. Commercial-grade AiProtection Pro and advanced VPNs secure the network.

Suits homes needing one strong access point

This 1-pack suits households that need a single high-performance WiFi 7 node for up to 2450 sq. ft. of coverage. It also suits buyers who already own compatible ASUS AiMesh routers and want to extend an existing mesh. It is not for buyers who need multi-node mesh coverage out of the box. It is not for users who require tri-band WiFi or a dedicated backhaul radio. It is not for installations that demand more than two 2.5G Ethernet ports.

2450 sq. ft. coverage from one node

The manufacturer rates a single ZenWiFi BD4 node at 2450 sq. ft. of coverage. This figure decides whether one unit is enough for the target space. Larger homes will need additional AiMesh-compatible nodes to reach the 6,500 sq. ft. system maximum. The node operates on 110V~240V AC input with a 12V 1.5A DC adapter.

Questions about this item

How do I install the single ZenWiFi BD4 unit and connect the WAN link?

Plug the included RJ45 cable into the WAN port, connect the 12 V 1.5 A power adapter, flip the power switch, then use the ASUS Router app to complete setup. The step people miss is enabling AiMesh in the app if they later add another ASUS router.

What maintenance or replacement will the BD4 need over time?

The unit has no user-serviceable parts; maintenance is limited to firmware updates via the app and occasional dusting of the four internal antennas. If the power adapter fails, replace it with a 12 V 1.5 A unit.

What limit appears first during sustained heavy traffic on the 5 GHz band?

The 5 GHz radio tops out at 2882 Mbps (2×2 WiFi 7), so sustained throughput will hit that ceiling before the dual 2.5 G Ethernet ports or the quad-core 1.5 GHz CPU become bottlenecks.
