Four-bay NAS with quad-core CPU

The ASUSTOR AS5404T is a four-bay desktop NAS powered by a quad-core Intel Celeron N5105 processor running at 2.0 GHz. It ships with 4 GB of DDR4-2933 memory and provides dual 2.5-Gigabit Ethernet ports for fast network throughput. Four M.2 slots accept NVMe SSDs to accelerate storage volumes or cache frequently accessed data.

Suits media creators and small teams.

This unit suits content creators and small teams needing 4K transcoding, Adobe-certified workflows and cross-platform live-stream backup. The four M.2 slots and three USB 3.2 Gen 2 ports at 10 Gbps support fast external storage and editing scratch space. Buyers who need more than 4 GB of RAM or a higher core count for heavy virtualisation should look at larger models.

Four M.2 slots define the storage architecture

The defining specification is the quartet of M.2 slots designed for NVMe SSDs. They enable all-flash arrays or hybrid configurations that mix hard drives with solid-state cache. This flexibility decides whether the AS5404T matches a workflow built around low-latency flash performance.

Questions about this item

Which drives must I already own to fill the four M.2 slots?

You need four NVMe SSDs in the M.2 form factor; the bays accept no other drive type.

Can I keep using my existing 1 GbE switch with the dual 2.5 GbE ports?

Yes, each 2.5 GbE port auto-negotiates down to 1 GbE so the current switch works unchanged.

How do I verify the 4 GB DDR4-2933 memory is detected after first boot?

Open ADM Control Panel → System Information; the memory line will show 4 GB DDR4 at 2933 MT/s.
