USB 2.0 7.1 External Sound Adapter

The At Home USB 2.0 7.1 External Sound Card is a compact USB audio adapter that adds virtual 7.1 channel surround sound to a computer without opening the case. It connects via a standard USB 2.0 interface and requires no driver installation for Windows 2000, XP, Server 2003 or Vista. The unit measures 45 x 25 x 14 mm and draws power directly from the USB port.

Upgrade for legacy Windows PCs without internal

This adapter suits users who need a quick 7.1 audio output on older Windows systems that lack a dedicated sound card or have a failed onboard audio chip. It is not for buyers who require native driver support for Windows 7 or later, nor for anyone needing hardware-accelerated DSP effects, multi-stream ASIO recording or optical digital output.

No-driver operation on Windows 2000 / XP / Server

The single specification that decides fit is the driverless support limited to Windows 2000, XP, Server 2003 and Vista. If the target machine runs any other operating system, including macOS, Linux or newer Windows releases, the adapter will not work as described and a different solution must be chosen.

Questions about this item

How can I confirm the adapter is delivering 7.1 surround sound after I plug it in?

Play a 7.1 test file and verify sound comes from all eight speaker positions; the adapter reports 90 dB SNR and uses 23 acoustic-field presets plus 16 rhythm presets to create the virtual surround effect.

What comes in the package and do I need a driver CD or extra cables?

The box contains only the 45 x 25 x 14 mm USB 2.0 adapter; no software CD is included or required because Windows 2000, XP, Server 2003 and Vista support it natively.

Are there different channel or capacity versions of this adapter to choose from?

No, this model is a single 7.1-channel version with a fixed 90 dB signal-to-noise ratio; there are no alternate channel counts or capacity options listed.
