What this KVM switch does

The ATEN KH2508A lets administrators manage up to 8 computers from two PS/2 or USB consoles. Operators at either console can independently and simultaneously take control of any connected system. Daisy-chaining additional units extends reach to 256 computers without extra console hardware.

Before you order

Verify each target computer provides PS/2 or USB keyboard and mouse ports compatible with the switch cables. Confirm the two console stations have matching PS/2 or USB peripherals and video inputs. Ensure enough rack space and cable length for the planned daisy-chain layout if expansion beyond 8 ports is expected.

Under sustained use

Independent dual-console operation means workload on one station does not block the other during long sessions. Daisy-chained switches maintain deterministic access across all 256 ports without throughput degradation. The hardware is built for continuous operation in server-room environments where administrators switch targets repeatedly over extended shifts.

Questions about this item

Does the KH2508A ship with cables for the eight computers or do I need to buy them separately?

The KH2508A is supplied as the switch unit only; separate KVM cable sets must be purchased for each of the eight computers you intend to connect.

Should I choose the KH2508A or the KH2516A for my server room?

Choose the KH2508A if you need to control up to eight computers, or the KH2516A if you need up to sixteen; both support daisy-chaining for further expansion.

How many computers can I actually manage from one console when the KH2508A is daisy-chained to its limit?

Daisy-chaining up to 31 additional KH2508A units lets you control as many as 256 computers from the original two PS/2 or USB KVM consoles.
