2x2 True 4K HDMI Matrix Switch

The ATEN VM0202HB routes video and audio from two HDMI sources to two HDMI displays. It suits home-theatre enthusiasts, small meeting rooms or digital-signage setups that need simple cross-point switching without a full control system. Built-in audio de-embedding sends sound to a separate analogue output for external speakers or an amplifier.

HDMI 2.0 bandwidth and HDR limits

The switch passes signals up to 18 Gbps, supporting 4096 x 2160 resolution at 60 Hz with 4:4:4 chroma and HDR. Longer cables or cascaded devices can reduce the usable bandwidth, so runs beyond typical passive lengths may require active or fibre HDMI leads. HDCP 2.2 content is handled, but newer HDMI 2.1 features such as 8K or variable refresh rate are not supported.

Two inputs and two outputs with analogue audio

The matrix comfortably handles two 4K60 sources — such as a media player and a game console — and two displays simultaneously. Audio de-embedding works on the selected output only, giving one stereo analogue feed at a time. Installations needing more than two sources, more than two zones or simultaneous multi-channel analogue outputs will need a larger matrix.

Questions about this item

Should I choose a 2x2 matrix or a larger switch for my setup?

The VM0202HB provides exactly two HDMI inputs and two HDMI outputs, letting you route any of the two sources to either display independently.

What does the 18 Gbps rating mean when I connect a 4K source?

It supports full 4096 x 2160 resolution at 60 Hz with 4:4:4 chroma and HDR, so you get uncompressed 4K video without bandwidth bottlenecks.

How does the HDMI 2.0 interface limit the audio de-embedder in practice?

The 18 Gbps HDMI link carries multi-channel audio alongside 4K 60 Hz video, and the built-in de-embedder extracts that audio to a separate analog output without reducing video quality.
