ATEN TECHNOLOGIES VS381B 3-port True 4K HDMI video switch

SKU CH-5NAT-6FK9Q MPN VS381B

Switches three HDMI sources to one display with True 4K 4096 x 2160 at 60 Hz and 18 Gbps bandwidth

  • Switch three sources to one display with front-panel buttons or IR remote
  • True 4K 4096 x 2160 at 60 Hz 4:4:4 for full-colour clarity
  • 18 Gbps bandwidth handles HDR, 3D and Deep Color without compression
  • HD lossless audio formats pass through for cinema-grade sound
  • Auto switching selects the active input instantly for hands-free operation

Three HDMI inputs for one display

The VS381B connects three HDMI sources to a single screen and switches between them automatically or by button press. It suits home-theatre owners, meeting-room operators and trade-show installers who need to share one display across multiple devices. Buyers who require more than three inputs or need simultaneous multi-view output cannot use this unit.

18 Gbps bandwidth at 60 Hz 4:4:4

The switch passes True 4K signals at 4096 x 2160 resolution and 60 Hz refresh with full 4:4:4 chroma sampling and an 18 Gbps data rate. HDR, 3D and Deep Color metadata travel unchanged through the selected port. Auto-switching detects a newly active source and changes the output without manual intervention during continuous operation.

Passive operation with IR and front-panel control

No external power supply is required for normal HDMI signal levels; the unit draws the small current it needs from the connected sources. Front pushbuttons give tactile selection while the included IR remote allows switching from a distance. The enclosure stays silent and cool because there are no fans or active cooling components inside.

Questions about this item

Does the VS381B run hot or draw much power when left on all day?

The VS381B is a passive HDMI switch with no fan or active cooling, so it generates minimal heat and draws very little power during continuous operation.

What cables or sources must I already have to use the VS381B?

You need three HDMI source devices and one HDMI display, plus four HDMI cables — three for the inputs and one for the output — because the VS381B only provides the switching logic.

Will the VS381B pass 4K 60 Hz 4:4:4 from an older 18 Gbps source to my current display?

Yes, the VS381B supports 18 Gbps bandwidth and True 4K at 4096 x 2160 @ 60 Hz 4:4:4, so it will transmit that signal from an older compliant source without downgrading it.
