Splits one DVI and audio source to two displays at up to 2560 x 1600 @ 60Hz, cascadable to three levels for eight outputs
The ATEN VS172 is a DVI Dual Link splitter that duplicates one DVI video source and its accompanying analogue audio to two separate displays. It is designed for installers and AV technicians who need reliable signal replication in classrooms, training rooms or digital-signage installations.
The unit supports dual-link DVI bandwidth, delivering up to 2560 x 1600 at 60 Hz and 1080p on both outputs simultaneously. This specification determines whether the splitter can drive the required display resolution without signal degradation.
The splitter suits environments that need two local displays or up to eight displays through three-level cascading using the RS-232 control port. It is not suited for buyers who require HDMI or DisplayPort connectivity, need more than two direct outputs without cascading, or want to extend rather than duplicate the desktop.

The splitter supports up to 2560 x 1600 at 60 Hz, so each attached display can show that resolution at a standard 60 Hz refresh rate.
Dual-link DVI provides the bandwidth needed for 2560 x 1600 at 60 Hz and 1080p; single-link DVI would cap at lower resolutions.
The unit is a compact desktop box powered by an external DC adapter; it simply sits on a flat surface with cables connecting the DVI and audio ports.
