Discreet Lavalier for Speech

The Athlon AT898cH is a sub-miniature cardioid condenser microphone built to clip onto clothing or hide inside costumes. Its wireless design targets spoken-word applications such as houses of worship, broadcast studios and theatrical productions where an unobtrusive profile is essential. The cardioid pattern focuses on the speaker while rejecting off-axis sound.

Cardioid Pattern Controls Ambient Noise

The directional pickup reduces background chatter and room reverberation during normal speaking volumes, keeping the voice clear without aggressive filtering. Condenser operation delivers detailed frequency response for natural vocal reproduction. The miniature capsule adds negligible bulk, so it does not alter the wearer's posture or create handling noise when positioned correctly.

4-Pin cH Connector Locks to Compatible Transmitters

A secure 4-pin cH termination mates with matching Audio-Technica wireless bodypack transmitters, preventing accidental disconnects during active use. The lightweight cable resists snagging on fabric and withstands repeated flexing under costumes. Clip mounting allows quick repositioning between speakers without tools, supporting fast changeovers in live environments.

Questions about this item

How do I connect the AT898cH to my wireless transmitter?

Plug the 4-pin cH connector into a compatible Audio-Technica wireless bodypack transmitter, aligning the keyed pins, then secure the locking ring; the step users miss is fully tightening that ring, which prevents intermittent contact.

What part will need replacement after extended use?

The thin cable between the capsule and connector is the wear point; if it develops noise or breaks, the whole microphone assembly must be replaced as the cable is not user-serviceable.

What limits performance during long sessions?

The cardioid pattern rejects off-axis sound, but sustained high SPL close to the capsule can cause distortion before the wireless system itself clips.
