Replaces older DP 1.2

A DP 1.2 link tops out at lower throughput, capping 4K at 60 Hz and preventing high-refresh 1440p or 1080p gaming. The jump is worth it when your GPU and monitor both advertise 8K 60 Hz, 4K 144 Hz or 1080p 240 Hz and you need the full 32.4 Gbps path. It will not help if either end only supports earlier DisplayPort versions.
