What It Is

The Audio-Technica AT-SMC1 is a cork turntable slipmat designed for vinyl playback. It reduces vibrations and unwanted resonance for clearer audio. The mat provides a stable platform that minimises record slippage. It suits listeners who want a cleaner sound from their existing turntable.

Critical Specification

The slipmat measures 295 mm in diameter and 1.6 mm thick. This size fits most standard turntables. The 1.6 mm thickness balances flexibility with support for the record. Verify your platter dimensions before purchase.

What the Material Changes

Cork construction does not attract dust or shed particles like some felt or alternative cork mats. This keeps records and the turntable cleaner over time. The mat weighs 30g. No additional accessories or software are included in the package.

Questions about this item

How does the 1.6 mm thickness affect playback?

The 1.6 mm cork layer dampens platter vibration and unwanted resonance, giving clearer audio while staying flexible enough to maintain full record contact.

Will the 295 mm diameter fit my turntable platter?

At 295 mm (11.6 in) it matches the standard platter size used on most turntables, so it sits flush without overhang.

What does the 30 g weight mean for daily use?

At only 30 g the mat adds negligible mass, so it won't strain the motor or alter speed stability, yet it stays put and stops records from slipping.
