Professional Monitor Headphones with Stand

The Audio-Technica ATH-M40x are closed-back, over-ear monitor headphones supplied with a desktop stand, a 1.2m-3.0m coiled cable and a 3.0m straight cable. They feature 40mm drivers with a frequency response of 15-24,000 Hz and weigh 240g. The package is intended for studio tracking, mixing and critical listening.

Suited for studio monitoring and DJ use.

These headphones suit audio engineers, DJs and producers who need accurate reproduction and strong isolation in loud environments. The swivelling earcups allow one-ear monitoring while staying aware of surroundings. Buyers who want wireless connectivity or active noise cancellation should look elsewhere, as this model uses only detachable wired cables.

15-24,000 Hz frequency response drives

The extended range of 15-24,000 Hz determines whether the ATH-M40x captures the detail required for critical mixing and tracking. If your work demands that breadth, the 40mm drivers and closed-back design deliver it; if you need a different response curve, another model will be more appropriate.

Questions about this item

Which cable length suits a desktop setup versus mobile use?

The 1.2m-3.0m coiled cable stays compact at the desk and stretches when you move; the 3.0m straight cable gives a fixed long run for studio monitoring.

What does the 15-24,000 Hz range mean for mixing accuracy?

It covers the full audible spectrum so you hear sub-bass detail down to 15 Hz and treble nuances up to 24 kHz without coloration.

What connector does the detachable cable use and what does it limit?

The proprietary twist-lock jack secures the cable to the left earcup; audio quality is limited only by the source device and the 40 mm drivers.
