Professional Reference Headphones

The Audio-Technica ATH-R50x are open-back reference headphones built for audio professionals and critical listeners. Their 45 mm drivers deliver a 5 to 40,000 Hz frequency response for accurate sound reproduction. A lightweight 7.3 oz frame ensures comfort during extended studio sessions. These headphones target users who need neutral, uncoloured monitoring.

Open-Back Monitoring Constraints

The open-back design creates a natural, spacious soundstage but leaks sound in both directions. It is unsuitable for tracking, commuting, or any environment where isolation is required. Bass impact is lower than on closed-back models despite the re-engineered low-end response. Buyers needing noise isolation or private listening should consider a different design.

1,600 mW Power Handling

Maximum input power of 1,600 mW allows very high volumes without distortion when driven by capable amplifiers. Low-powered portable sources may not reach optimal listening levels or dynamic range. Matching the headphones to a suitable desktop or interface output is the decisive factor for performance.
