What this capture card does

This USB 3.0 HDMI capture card accepts a 4K 60 Hz signal and passes it through to a display at the same resolution while recording or streaming at 1080p 60 fps or 2K 30 fps. It is aimed at streamers, educators and anyone who needs a low-latency path from a console, camera or PC to OBS, VLC or QuickTime on Windows, macOS, Linux, Android or iPadOS 17+.

The spec that decides fit

The critical limit is the 1080p 60 fps or 2K 30 fps maximum capture resolution despite a 4K 60 Hz loop-out, so buyers who need to record or stream at 4K should choose a different device. The MS2131 chip delivers YUY2 or MJPEG output at 24, 30 or 36-bit colour with a 0.4 A draw from the USB port.

Installation and common issues

Plug the supplied USB 3.0 to USB-A/USB-C cable into the card and the host, connect the HDMI source and the loop-out display, then select the device in your capture software — no driver install is required on supported systems. The 3.5 mm mic input adds commentary audio but does not record party chat, and the aluminium enclosure runs warm under sustained use.

Questions about this item

What does 1080P 60fps capture mean once the card is inside my streaming PC?

The MS2131 chip encodes incoming 4K 60Hz HDMI into 1920x1080 60fps or 2K 30fps YUY2 or MJPEG streams that OBS, VLC or QuickTime can record directly to disk.

How does the USB 3.0 link cap real-world throughput on this capture card?

USB 3.0 carries the encoded 1080P 60fps or 2K 30fps video at up to 0.4A 5V draw, so sustained capture stays within the bus bandwidth without compression artifacts.

What physical space and connections does the NXA055_55L need to sit on my desk?

The 0.145 kg aluminum box needs a free USB-A or USB-C port, an HDMI source cable, an HDMI loop-out cable for a monitor, and a 3.5mm headset jack for commentary audio.
